Spirituality of CMDP
The spiritual life of the Calvary Missionaries of the Divine Paraclete flows from the living experience of the Holy Spirit in the life of the Church and from the charism entrusted to the Society through its founder. As a spiritual family of priests and brothers, the Society seeks to live a life deeply rooted in prayer, interior renewal, and missionary zeal.
The spirituality of the Society is marked by openness to the Divine Paraclete, devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, reverence for the Eucharistic presence of Christ, and a missionary spirit that courageously proclaims the Gospel.
Paschal Spirituality
The spirituality of the Calvary Missionaries of the Divine Paraclete is fundamentally Paschal, reflecting the mystery of Christ’s passage through suffering into glory.
As expressed in the Society’s constitution:
“The spirituality of the Calvary Missionaries of the Divine Paraclete derives from the charism of our founder and our experiences of the Holy Spirit in the course of the years. As a spiritual home or family of Priests and Brothers, the Society embraces the essence of Paschal Spirituality lived through suffering unto glory beneath the maternal mantle of Mary at the foot of the Cross.”
In this way, members learn to unite their lives with the redemptive mystery of Christ, allowing trials and sacrifices to become occasions for grace and spiritual renewal.
Beneath the maternal mantle of Mary at the foot of the Cross, the Society learns to unite suffering with Christ’s redemptive sacrifice. In this way the members are disposed to live and proclaim the Gospel under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the Divine Advocate, who continually renews the Church and leads believers into deeper union with Christ.
Devotion to the Divine Paraclete
At the heart of the Society’s spirituality is a profound devotion to the Holy Spirit, the Divine Paraclete, whom Christ promised as the Advocate and guide of the Church.
The Society seeks to remain attentive to the inspirations of the Spirit through prayer, discernment, and apostolic service. Through the grace of the Holy Spirit, members are renewed interiorly and strengthened to carry out the mission of evangelization and spiritual regeneration.
Marian Dimension
The spirituality of the Society is deeply Marian, inspired by the unique disposition of the Blessed Virgin Mary in her response to the will of God.
The words of the Gospel express this attitude perfectly:
“Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it done unto me according to your word.” (Luke 1:38)
Following the example of Mary, members of the Society strive to cultivate a spirit of humility, obedience, and total openness to God’s will. Under the maternal protection of the Mother of God, the Society seeks to remain faithful to its mission in the Church.
Eucharistic Devotion
A central aspect of the Society’s spiritual life is deep reverence for the Blessed Sacrament.
Through Eucharistic adoration and devotion to the Real Presence of Christ, members draw strength for their apostolic mission and deepen their communion with the Lord who sends them on mission.
“I am the living bread which came down from heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever.”
— John 6:51
Missionary Expression: Duc in Altum
The spirituality of the Society naturally leads to a missionary spirit expressed in the call of Christ:
“Duc in altum” — Put out into the deep. (Luke 5:4)
Inspired by this command, the Society seeks to go beyond comfort and familiarity in order to proclaim the Gospel with courage, trusting in the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the maternal intercession of Mary.

Prayer to the Divine Paraclete
Come, Holy Spirit, Divine Paraclete, Renew our hearts in the love of Christ, Guide us in adoration before the Blessed Sacrament, Inspire our mission with courage and fidelity, And lead us, under the maternal mantle of Mary,
To bring spiritual regeneration to all whom we serve.
Amen.
Prayer Under Mary’s Mantle
Mother of God, Ever Virgin Mary, Shelter us beneath your maternal mantle, Teach us to be humble, faithful, and open to God’s will, Guide our steps in prayer, mission, and service, so that, united to your Son, we may bring His grace to the world. Amen
“The closer we are to Jesus, the better we will know His thirst.”
— St. Teresa of Calcutta
